About Navjit Surdhar
The elusive secret of happiness is as simple as remembering the good times. When I gaze at photos of my late mother, memories and stories come flooding back to me and I am the happiest I could ever be. I discovered that photographs were my way to beautifully rekindle life’s most short-lived but most loved moments. They are our only way to connect to the past where we treasure our priceless memories. Therefore it goes without saying that your wedding is one of the most special days of your life - so every moment deserves to be captured perfectly to let you re-live the euphoria for a lifetime.
“Let the beauty of what you love be what you do" (Rumi)
My artistic style for the Indian wedding is very much driven by my fascination for South Asian art and culture. It has deep roots in my very fabric. Connecting with my past steered me into an obsession with art galleries and museums and earning a degree in Indian History and languages at university. I became spellbound by story telling through admiring beautiful imagery and works of art. Photographs left me mesmerized and let me time travel, back to a past full of excitement. For that one-minute observing, I could experience the drama, the music and the emotions as if they’d just happened.
Through the Indian world of art, I reminisce on the exquisite paintings of colourful Maharajas, Rajasthani Princesses, beautiful palaces and darbars of Mughal India, and see this same culture as very much a part of your special day. It is this majesty, this grandeur and this history that is inherited into the traditions of your wedding ceremony, which inspires me to help re-tell this unique moment of your life’s history.
With an understanding of how important it is to craft and preserve your story, I shoot with an eye for the timeless… images with a touch of vintage brought into the modern day to tell your story for generations to come.
We all have a story to tell, let me tell yours…
